很多同学在考研英语作文里想表达“我反对这个观点”，第一反应都是：
I against this opinion.
看起来每个词都认识。但这句话是错的。
因为 against 不是动词，不能直接放在主语后面充当谓语。
正确写法是：
I am against this opinion.
不过，即使语法改对了，这个表达还是比较基础。
在考研英语、四六级写作和英语近义词辨析中，真正容易拉开差距的是下面四个词：
它们都可能被翻译成“反对、抵制”，但表达的动作完全不同。
尤其是 resist：
resist doing 是“抵制做某事”，还是“忍不住做某事”？
resist somebody 能不能表示“反对某人”？
resist 后面到底接 to do 还是 doing？
这些全是坑。

先纠正一个最常见的错误
Against 不是动词
因为 against 通常作介词，前面需要搭配 be against，后面可以接名词或动名词：
be against the proposal
反对这个提议
be against raising tuition fees
反对提高学费
所以，“反对”写成 against 并非一定错误。真正的问题是：
很多人忘了在前面加 be 动词。
01 Oppose：正式、直接地反对
oppose 表示：
对某个计划、观点、政策或行为持反对立场。
它是一个及物动词，后面直接接宾语：oppose + 名词
Many residents oppose the new policy.
许多居民反对这项新政策。
Some experts oppose the use of facial recognition in public places.
一些专家反对在公共场所使用人脸识别技术。
Oppose 可以直接接 doing
oppose + doing something
Many students oppose raising tuition fees.
许多学生反对提高学费。
Local residents opposed building a factory near the school.
当地居民反对在学校附近建造工厂。
这里不需要加 to。
Oppose 最常见的坑
因为 oppose 本身就是及物动词，后面直接接宾语，不需要 to。
但为什么有时能看到 opposed to？
因为那是另一个结构：
be opposed to + 名词 / doing
We are opposed to the proposal.
我们反对这项提议。
Many parents are opposed to reducing physical education classes.
许多家长反对减少体育课。
这里的 opposed 更接近形容词，其中的 to 是介词，后面接动词时要用 doing。
02 Object to：明确提出异议
object to 表示：
对某件事提出异议、表示不赞成。
它比 be against 更正式，也比 oppose 更强调：
把自己的反对意见表达出来。
Several members objected to the proposal.
几名成员对这项提议表示反对。
Some employees objected to the new working arrangement.
一些员工对新的工作安排提出了异议。
Object to 后面接 doing
这里的 to 是介词，所以必须使用：
object to + 名词
object to + doing
I object to being treated in this way.
我反对别人这样对待我。
Many users object to sharing their personal data.
许多用户反对共享自己的个人数据。
Object to 的高频陷阱
Oppose 和 Object to 有什么区别？
Many residents oppose the plan.
许多居民反对这项计划。
这句话只是在陈述他们的立场。
Many residents objected to the plan at the meeting.
许多居民在会议上对这项计划提出异议。
这句话更强调：他们公开表达了反对意见。
03 Resist：最容易翻车的“抵制”
resist 是这组词里坑最多的一个。它不只是“反对”。更准确的核心感觉是：
面对压力、诱惑、攻击或变化时，努力顶住，不让自己被影响。
因此，resist 常见于三种完全不同的语境。
第一种：抵抗某种力量或变化
resist + 名词
The material can resist heat.
这种材料能够耐高温。
Some employees resisted the proposed changes.
一些员工抵制拟议中的改革。
The body needs energy to resist infection.
身体需要能量抵抗感染。
这里的 resist 不是简单表达观点，而是强调：某种力量正在产生影响，而主体努力顶住它。
常见搭配：
- resist pressure：顶住压力
- resist change：抵制改变
- resist temptation：抵制诱惑
- resist infection：抵抗感染
- resist arrest：拒捕
- resist control：抵抗控制
- resist outside influence：抵制外部影响
第二种：Resist doing something
resist + doing 表示：抵制、避免或克制自己不去做某事。
He resisted checking his phone during the meeting.
开会期间，他忍住没有查看手机。
Consumers should resist buying things they do not need.
消费者应该克制购买自己不需要的东西。
第三种：Can’t resist doing
can’t resist doing something
通常不是“不能反对做某事”，而是：
忍不住做某事
I couldn’t resist laughing.
我忍不住笑了。
She couldn’t resist checking the message.
她忍不住查看了那条消息。
Many people cannot resist buying discounted products.
很多人忍不住购买打折商品。
为什么意思会反过来？Resist 本身表示抵抗某种冲动；can’t resist 表示无法抵抗这种冲动，所以最终结果就是：忍不住做了。
Resist 后面能不能接人？
可以，但要非常小心。resist somebody 通常表示：抵抗某人的攻击、控制、权威或强迫。
The suspect resisted the police.
嫌疑人反抗警察。
The soldiers resisted the invading army.
士兵们抵抗入侵军队。
这类表达具有明显的对抗、阻拦、反抗，或武力 / 权力冲突。
不能机械地把“反对某人”翻译成 resist somebody：
因为你反对的是他的观点或提议，而不是在抵抗他的攻击、控制或强迫。
Resist 能不能接“人 + doing”？
考试写作中，不建议把它当成常规结构使用。例如想表达“我反对他这样做”：
不要生硬地写：I resist him doing this.
更自然的是：
I oppose his doing this.
I object to him doing this.
I object to what he is doing.
因此，看到“反对某人做某事”，优先考虑：
oppose somebody’s doing
object to somebody doing
而不是 resist somebody doing。
04 Defy：公开违抗，甚至带点挑衅
defy 不是普通的“不赞成”。它表示：
公然不服从命令、规则或权威。
语气比 oppose、object to 强得多。
The company defied the government order.
这家公司公然违抗政府命令。
The protesters defied the ban and continued their demonstration.
抗议者无视禁令，继续进行示威活动。
He defied his parents and left home.
他不顾父母反对，离开了家。
常见搭配：
- defy an order：违抗命令
- defy the law：无视法律
- defy authority：挑战权威
- defy a ban：违反禁令
- defy convention：挑战传统
- defy expectations：出乎预期
Defy expectations 不是“反对期待”
defy expectations
通常表示：结果和人们原本预期的不一样。
The film defied expectations and became a huge success.
这部电影出乎意料地取得了巨大成功。
这里的 defy 不是“反对”，而是：打破、超出、不符合原有预期。
Defy somebody to do 是另一个意思
defy somebody to do something
表示：激某人做某事，断定对方做不到。
I defy anyone to find a better solution.
我倒要看看谁能找到更好的解决办法。
这个结构和“反对某人做某事”没有关系。不要看到 defy somebody to do，就翻译成“反对某人做某事”。
一张图看懂四个词的区别
oppose：正式反对某个观点、政策或行为
object to：明确提出异议
resist：顶住压力、诱惑或变化
defy：公开违抗命令或权威
这四个词并不是简单的“语气越来越强”。它们真正的区别是：
反对的方式不同。

许多学生反对在不知情的情况下受到监控。
为什么其他选项不对？
A. oppose to：oppose 后面不能直接加 to。正确结构应该是 oppose being monitored，或 be opposed to being monitored。
C. resist to：resist 后面不能接 to do。如果使用 resist，应写成 resist being monitored；但这种表达更强调努力抵抗监控行为。原句主要表达“对此提出反对意见”，所以 object to 更自然。
D. defy：defy 通常直接接命令、禁令、规则或权威，不能自然地说 defy being monitored。
